Micro trainings in Knowly

This article describes how to create micro trainings in Knowly

What is "micro training"?

A learning journey in Knowly consists of four components; informative texts, micro-training, evaluation and training opportunities. This article describes what micro training is and how to create it.

A micro-training is the digital training material you, as an administrator, create for the participants. A micro-training consists of slides where you can add elements such as texts, pictures, videos, questions, Flashcards and files.

When you create a learning journey, you get several templates for micro trainings with content you can choose to keep, change or delete altogether. You can also add micro-exercises without any pre-printed material where you create your micro-training from scratch. All added micro-trainings end up at the bottom of the timeline for the learning journey. When you have finished your micro-training, you can mark the material by clicking "content not ready" in the upper left corner and changing to "mark content as ready".

Features in a micro training

There are several features you can use in your micro training. Click on Add, and you will see the options available.

Text

Text is the plain body text that you can add to your slide. Mark your text to edit the formatting, for example, if you want a specific text to be linked to a URL or if you want the text to be bold, italic, underlined, or bulleted.

Image

Here you can upload an image you want to include. We recommend the formats .jpg, .png, .gif

Video

You can add a video to your micro training. Note that you first need to upload your video material on a video-sharing service such as Youtube.

File

If you have your documents (articles, ppt, Pdfs, etc ..), then you can add them to your micro training. The Participants will be able to download the files to their devices.

Single select

This is a question function where participants can only choose one of the answer options. A useful function for yes and no questions or in Quizzes when there is only one correct answer.

Select many

This is also a question function but differs from the above. With this question, participants can choose one or more answer options.

Open Question

In an open-ended question, the participant can formulate an answer. As an administrator, you can read the answers in the statistics view for the learning journey.

Flashcard

A flashcard is a card with text on the front that the participant can click on to also have information on the back. This feature encourages the participant to test themselves and helps to strengthen their knowledge through repetition.

Previous answer

In Knowly, you can use open-ended answer questions to let your participants reflect. The "previous answer" segment allows you, as a content creator, to show this answer in a later micro training so that the participant can easily see what they answered in the previously open question.

This feature is good if you want to create an automated reflection simultaneously experienced as individualized, where a series of questions build on each other for a long time.

What does a micro training look like for the participant?

The material the administrator creates in a micro-training is then scheduled to the participant group and sent out as a link. Either as an SMS or via email, depending on the choice of delivery method. The participant clicks on the link, and the micro-training opens up in the browser (it works just as well on the phone as the computer).
