Add managers to your Learning Journey

Including managers in Learning Journeys can have a significantly positive impact on how participants apply their newfound knowledge in their day-to-day work. When managers are actively involved, participants can quickly recognize the importance of the training and, simultaneously, receive support to modify their behaviors in their daily lives. In Knowly's Learning Journeys 2.0, you can add managers, create a parallel track for them during the learning journey, and design activities tailored specifically for their needs.

In your learning journey, you've already constructed a path for participants, full with activities designed to help them leverage the knowledge your training provides. By incorporating managers into the learning journey, you can introduce activities that are specifically targeted at managers, all the while fostering connections between managers and participants. Consequently, the same learning journey may contain activities exclusive to either participants or managers.

To involve managers in the learning journey, there are two approaches. You can manually add them as an administrator, which is suitable for smaller groups, such as onboarding sessions. This process entails individually adding managers because participants might not be aware of who their managers are at the outset. Unfortunately, Knowly currently does not offer an option to import managers, unlike participants.

To add managers manually, you must first add the participants to the system. Then, navigate to the "People" section, where you will find the option to "Add Manager" next to each participant's profile. Managers won't receive a notification that they've been assigned this role until the first activity is sent in the manager track.

Alternatively, for larger groups, you can allow participants to register their managers themselves by providing their names and email addresses. You can facilitate this by incorporating the "Manager Registration" activity. If you use the self-registration link, you can seamlessly integrate manager registration into the participant's learning journey registration process.

Registering Managers in the Learning Journey

To register managers using this approach, follow these steps:

  1. Add the "Manager Registration" activity to your learning journey.
  2. Give the activity an appropriate name, and click it to make any necessary edits. You can either use the form as is or customize it to align with your educational goals. The activity comprises two notifications, a registration form, and an end screen.

Notifications

The activity features two distinct notifications: one inviting participants to register their managers and the other serving as confirmation for the managers that they've been successfully registered.

Registration of Managers in Connection with Self-Registration in the Learning Journey

If you opt to let participants register themselves for the learning journey, you can initiate the process of registering their managers during the registration. In step 3 of the registration form, you'll find the option to "register managers." If you want participants to register their managers, keep this option enabled; otherwise, you can disable it during the registration process.
